Sebastian Zierer was born in Regensburg in 1984. After his schooling and making first contact with all kinds of music with the world reknowned „Regensburger Domspatzen“, and studying orchestral conducting at prestigious music schools in Freiburg im Breisgau and Frankfurt am Main, he started his professional career becoming a coach at the Frankfurt am Main Opera House in 2008.

Starting in 2013, he became “Kapellmeister” and assistant conductor at the world-famous Frankfurt Opera. While at the opera, he assisted well known conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Bertrand de Billy, and Sebastian Weigle.

There he  led  approximately  90 opera performances, including The Magic Flute, La Boheme, Die Fledermaus, Don Giovanni, Carmen and many more.

This eventually led Sebastian Zierer to the opportunity of being a guest artist for the Bregenzer Festspiele and to Bilbao.

Since 2017 he works as a university lecturer at the newly founded performance center for conducting at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts.

In addition to his educational activity, he works as a conductor, composer and arranger. Sebastian Zierer is presently working with WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk),hr- Sinfonieorchester and the Semperoper in Dresden.
